This thermoplastic is part of the polyolefin group and has excellent physical, thermal and chemical characteristics, while the mechanical values are lower than those of polyamides. It has a high surface hardness and abrasion resistance. The impact resistance is excellent except at low temperatures. The chemical resistance is exceptional even at high temperatures, it is attacked only by a few highly oxidizing reagents; for this reason it is widely used in the chemical and electroplating industries. The excellent dielectric properties make it very suitable for use also in the electronics, radio and television sectors. It has the lowest specific weight among thermoplastics, almost no moisture absorption and therefore good dimensional stability.
